Strange! Here it behaves as expected ONLY the first time i switch from
the shorter to the longer file, if i repeat the procedure i experience
the described behavior. MaxMSP 4.5.7 OSX 10.4.8 PowerBook G4 1.33 GHz.
Test done with short files of around 0.5 – 2 sec and longer files around
20 – 30 sec.

Hmmm, that seems to be a bit odd.

We’ll look into it a bit more – yes, I think it should work like you’d think it would, but in the meantime….

thanks Andrew!
I thought it might be cleaner to have groove~ send a bang at the end

I was able to replicate Kim’s odd groove~ behaviour, but noticed that
groove~ corrects itself if I’m fiddeling with I/O vector size, for whatever
reason (winXP 1.7Mhz, max 4.5.1).

now how’s that for QA?

Kim: I can confirm your behavior. Thought I would also chime in
since my name came up.

I have experience several instances of buffers behaving badly since
upgrading to 4.6 and a MacIntel. It’s the reason the UB GTK has not
been released. I am trying to track things down.

Andrew: If you find something in the buffer code, PLEASE let me know.

Nathan I should mention that my config is as follows:

OS X 10.4.8
G4 PB 1.67GHz
=========
Max/MSP 4.6.2
Jitter 1.6.2
Pluggo 3.6.0

and that I’m looking forward to getting the GTK externals back in
Max! :)

and nice work Eran on the I/O Vector size interaction! :)
…I haven’t fiddled with that yet but my settings are 512=I/O
Vector; 256=Signal Vector

This has happened to me a few of times and it’s
usually been down to an over-enthusiastic spam filter.
Try using web-mail instead of your usual client; you
may well find your spam filter has taken upon itself
to consider evrything from [maxmsp] as spam, in which
case it will need re-educating,
cheers

Web mail is the most annoying thing on earth I can imagine…
Better change your provider if you can’t switch off the server based
filters…
But usually you should only have to add the lists to your addressbook…
