beloved list

we are producing a multidisplay system
we will use a master computer to control and to output 3 independed video signals and arrays of computer slaves each one outputing 3 independed video signals as well

we still don´t know how many slaves we will need however we want build a system that can manage several slaves let´s say a maximum of 7 slaves

the master will send basic control messages to the slaves as well as the slave will send a basic identification message to the master, finally but fundamentally important
a sync “time” or a frame position message (30 fps) to each slave will be send from the master

to have a proper data transfer performance between the master and the slaves is where i would like to hear advices.
what i should use, just a modern switch will do?
which wiring configuration?
latency?, rate stability?

any advice will be apreciated

thanks

hi,,
you can use OSC (Open Sound Control) over ethernet to communicate between computers. take a look to udpsend and udpreceive objects and the cnmat osc externals.

in the hardware side you have diferent choices like Matrox TH2GO, Nvidia Quadro 440 NVS or as you said a video switch,, depends of your platform configurations and budget.. but be ready for some fights with codecs and syncs.. search in the forum about post relating multiple displays…

good luck,
