In my patch I have the [poly~] set up using a synthesis patch I made. There is another inlet on the [poly~] I created with [in 2] and I'm trying to use a [umenu] in the main patch to access the synthesis patch and change the wave type (this is already set up). However, in my tryings with this, it's either ended up only changing one of the poly~ voices, or turning the patch monophonic.

Someone tried to explain to me that a [target] message would help me target all voices. Can someone please elaborate on this as I can't seem to get it to work, although it's most likely set up very wrong.
