Help file in Max/MSP 4.62

I just found that that MaxMSP 4.62 won’t be able to find the third party external help file unless I put it in the max-help folder.

I remember for the old version of Max/MSP, if I put a third party external and its help file in a folder, and create a new patch in the same folder, the help file of the 3rd party external can be brought up through any patch in that folder.

But for the latest version of Max/MSP, it no longer works that way.

Any idea to change it ?

Besides, the help file on my Intel-Mac does not show the correct icon and cannot be opened with Max/MSP just by double mouse-click. Any idea to let it show correct icon ?

This is actually what’s documented (as I understand it). The
undocumented behavior was convenient, however.

Nope, unless the below has any effect.

In the Finder, Get Info… on the Max .help file, use the Open with:
popup towards the bottom of the Info window.

Be careful about the Change All… button at the bottom. It will also
change the Apple .help files to try to open in Max. They want to be
used with Help Viewer.

You should be able to find this information in Help Viewer (using the
Help menu in the Finder), but I’m not sure exactly where it is.
