help needed: how to connect a scanner to Max/Jitter?

Hi guys
For my media-art project I would like to connect a scanner to Max/Jitter. Is that even possible? Max should tell the scanner when to scan. The incoming data will be altered and used for the visual part of my project. Does anybody know how I could do this?
Your help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Cristina

the communication standard used by most scanners is called twain there
should be info here: http://www.twain.org/
you’d need some interface object for this. there is an article here:
http://today.java.net/pub/a/today/2004/11/18/twain.html on how to
interface b/w twain compliant devices and java, you could roll some mxj
object to handle this by calling out to some java/twain framework.

post back with your results. interesting challenge!
