Is the pfft subpatch saved in the same directory as the parent patch?

That’s a feature of the program itself. To edit it, you need to open up the
original file. Another option is to Alt-click on the title bar of the locked
patch and select the title of it from the drop-down menu that appears. This
will open up an unlocked version. Remember you have to save it for the
changes to be applied in the parent patch.

Thank you Joe

its working:)

Yes it’s normal. When you double click on your pfft object in your parent
patch, I believe it’s just opening a referenced copy. In order to unlock and
edit it, you have to open the original file.

OK, look at how the tutorial is built.
There are two Max patches:
-the main patch
-the patch that is "inside" the pfft~

To make your own, first make a copy of the file this "inside-pfft" patcher,
for instance on your desktop.
Then make a new patcher (that will be the main one), save it on the desktop.
Close it. Open it again.
Create a [pfft~ .... Name of the "inside-pfft" patcher"].
It should work. There should be no error message.
Keep the main and "inside-pfft" patchers in the same folder, and you won’t
need to check paths.
Avoid spaces in the pfft subpatch name (I give names like thingtodo.pfft).

Let us know if that works.
