Help please

Hi there, im pretty new to all this stuff so if i get any terms wrong im sorry.
Basically i have made a basic patch on msp at uni and it all plays fine there, i can load the .wav’s with the replace button etc
I downloaded the 30 day trial so i could continue with my work at home and now the .wav’s arnt loading its not appearing to read them at all i get on the max window
wave_parse: unknown WAVE_FORMAT_EXTENSIBLE SubFormat
buffer~: could not parse file doggies.wav, err -1
am i missing something or doing something wrong to load them as i say the patch works fine at uni.
Any help appreciated, thanx, Ami

What OS and computer model?

What exact version of Max are you using?

Can you post your patch?

Is your problem specific to one sound file?
Did you try other wave files, coming from different sources?

Tryed loads of files all from different sources, and they all played on windows media player,so i dont think the problem is there.
