HELP! Want to make a soundtrack generator…

Greetings!
I am new to max, and I have an idea I want to try but clueless where to start. What I want to do is load a video file and have the RGB information sent from the video to some sort of processor. Then, I want it to take the RGB data and interpret it in to a “soundtrack” of sorts.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

crack the manual.

lol thanks, took a class actually, but we didn’t touch on jitter (and it seems it may be a jitter function). I am reading and have some ideas (some that kind of work), just having problems getting specifically an RGB out from my video; however, I would really love to hear peoples ideas (seems there are many different ways to do any 1 function, some more elegant than others; was hoping for some of that community/workshop style brainstorming).

Anyway, thanks for responding at least :) Good to know you care!

i would recommend working with jit.3m….this is a great little object. i
use it a lot for colour tracking in conjunction with jit.scissors…and
have done quite a bit of work with reactive audio and video
environments…whereby the music is generated as a reaction to the
video…. either way…jit.3m is great…

id love to hear how you get on with it as its one of my main areas of
interest….

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I had to ask: Bruce, what book is that from? Looks like I need to reed that one.

Ah, I think I know this one: “VALIS”. I’d recommend a trip to your nearest library tomorrow, once you’ve read it you’ll want to track down the following two novels as well I hope.

Unfortunately, it’ll have to wait until after my trip to NY next week, to many cool new Max sounds to program before then. But thanks! “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep” has been my only Dick so far, but I look forward to more :)
