I want to be able to switch between the different filter outputs of an [svf~]. I have a [saw~] going through and can hear its output fine. But the minute I introduce a [matrix~] at its output it stops the signal all together. How can I get around this? I have attached the patch I am working on. I also tried replacing the [matrix~] with a [selector~] and got the same result.

You have to provide values for matrix~ in order for it to mix the signals together. Its default gain is 0 for all the connections between inlets and outlets.

First, make sure that you're using matrix~ 4 1 0 for this. The third argument is important because otherwise matrix~ won't interpolate, and it won't give you any values except off and on. (Avoid matrixctrl for anything but the _absolute_ simplest tasks!)

Send messages to it in the form of: inlet outlet gain (time--optional)

I highly recommend doing this using the following:

messagebox with: $1 0 $2 50 going into matrix~.

Thanks! Mixing is a bonus - I just really wanted to switch between each of the filter outputs. This has definately solved my problem though. I have devised a method of turning outputs on and off through a series of slider messages determined by the selecting of a filter type in a umenu.

Help: Why won't [matrix~] work in this sittuation
