i made this thing that creates an infinite serie of arrangements of four different symbols; a, b, c and d.

i use sprintf to collect the four symbols into a list without spaces. the first four symbols sprintf recieves is a b c d, and sprintf outputs abcd without any spaces.

i need to get each and every symbol out individually and (preferably) indexed with a number (i could probably use funnel).

so my question is, how can i split up the output into a list of individual symbols?

If I understand you correctly you want to turn asymbol "abcdwhatever" into a list: a b c d w h a t e v e r. If that's the case then using [regexp (.)] and using the middle outlet will work.

You want to split the individual characters of a symbol back into a list? [atoi] is your friend:

Perhaps somebody else will come up with something shorter?

to begin with, i'll be experimenting with per norgaards infinite series and waveform applications he did by hand decades ago ;D

@ thereishopeforus actually, your solution seems better, but the regexp can't output more than some specific number of symbols? it stops after a while....
