[hi] inlets and outlets disappearing after saving and reopening

March 14, 2013 | 5:17 pm

Hi all,

Apologies in advance if this questions has been previously asked, but since every forum post begins with "Hi!", it isn’t the easiest object to research.

I’m encountering an issue where the inlet and both outlets are disappearing on the object after saving, exiting Max, and then reopening. This breaks all of the connections going to and from the object. The problem is persistent when trying to make new [hi] objects as well – they will appear missing inlets and outlets. Here is the repro:

1). Exit Max completely
2). Double click this patch to open it, and launch Max
3). There should be a series of unconnected objects

It is possible to make the inlets and outlets reappear by navigating the Extras menu to "HI Tester", turning on polling, and then sending data from a HI device. After doing this, the patch can be reopened with all of the connections, and new objects can be created properly.

Any help would be wonderful. Thank you!

we’re having issues with Hi too, for us it’s to do with a seemingly persistent problem others are having, where you can’t run it in a MaxForLive device, only in the max editor… :( Wonder if they’re related.

Your problem could come from having a patch you’ve named "hi"?

That honestly fixed the issue… altho I’m still unsure as to why.

I appreciate it! Unfortunate to hear about the M4L problems, as that was my next step. If I have any luck I’ll post.

Thanks again
