how do you preserve aspect ratio in fullscreen?

April 20, 2007 | 11:58 pm

It’s probably another newbie question, but I have no Idea how to do it.

Also related: if I have HD video in 1280 x 720, but the projector has only 1024 x 748(700something), is it better to just scale down the dimensions in max or reencode the video for better looks and performance?

If you are using jit.gl.video plane, you can use the @scale attribute
with ‘full_screen 1 on the window – use @scale attribute and
specify proper aspect ratio. (@scale 1.77 1. would give have filling
the whole (x/y gets your x scale factor) screen) the use the message
"position 0. 0. $1" and a float to position the window on the z axis
(the value you need is .84 btw)

I use (occasionally when I really care about that sort of thing) this
javascript/patch to force the aspect of a videoplane to be set
correctly based on the dim of the movie vs the window size.

I wasn`t using the jit.gl.videoplane before, just jit.window and direct to window method, because I’m using HDV 720p. But I tried it now and the scaling works fine. Thanks. BUT the colors look sh
How can I influence this e.g. get full colors back? I looked at the jit.gl.videoplane helppatch but couldn’t figure it out. I’d like to have it working by tuesday for my diploma :D (don’t comment please).
Or is there a way to do the same thing with just the jit.window?

I still haven’t got the color problem fixed, so I’m going hardwire and add some black stripes to my video. Not the best solution tho, but it works direct to window.
