How can I clear the text from the "Max" window?  (the window where text is "print"ed to)

I've tried sending all possible ascii chars to it like this:

nothing in the Max Java docs i can find - it can't be that hard?(!)

This does it but leaves a trail of colons.

You're assuming the Max window is a TTY-style console. It ain't.

At this point in time there is no API for programmatically clearing 

the Max window. There have been many, many discussions of this on the

Thanks both - i have used the uzi approach before (especially when debugging externals) and have tried for several years to work this out, so thanks Peter, for confirming i hadn't missed anything obvious.

Slightly off-topic but - i HAVE searched the archives (endlessly), but the tools to do that aren't great (the whole forum is, um... disappointing).

What (for future reference) would you suggest i search for? How about "Max window message clear"? (try it using the search on this forum - 13 pages of hits but none about this topic afaics)

Oh.. i seem to have answered my own rant... i tried:
