how to commission someone to write an external

July 27, 2006 | 1:09 am

I’ve got a project in mind that is going to need a jitter external written for it.

I want to take a silhouette from a live camera input and turn it into a vector shape in realtime.

This is well beyond my Jitter capabilities, as it’s going to need to be written as code to get anywhere near the speed I require.

I’m interested in getting someone to write the code for me, but I’d like some advice on how I can be a good ‘client’. As usual, there’s not heaps of money, so I want to make sure I’m not wasting anyones time.

Any suggestions?

Precisely describe both the inputs and outputs of the object. If you
have an algorithm in mind, write it out step by step. The more
clearly you define the problem the more likely you’ll get what you
want from a developer.
