The max patch is reading data from the serial port on which an arduino is connected over a long distance via a usb extender.

This works most of the time (it is part of an installation piece) but occasionally I seem to be losing the serial connection and the only way to get reconnected is to exit the app and restart it.

Is there a an automated way that I could handle this?

Either detecting lost connection and reconnecting or the most dramatic is actually getting the max patch to restart the computer.

I have not been able to isolate the cause of this problem, I just need to find a way to deal with it for now.

Any ideas??
