how to save generated patches in runtime ?

August 7, 2006 | 8:10 pm

how can i write a patch which modifies another patch on disk and
saves it afterwards, in a runtime application?
i don’t see any solution for this as:
- the thispatcher object ‘write’ message only works in Max but is
disabled in the runtime mode;
- and in javascript, the patcher object does not have a ‘write’
method… this is a pity, all the power of javascript for generating
patches with some other patch but no save/write method.

so…?

Not sure how you would do this if you need to modify an existing patch.

But if your app can create the patch you want to modify through one of
the scripting mechanisms, then all you need to do is track the steps
taken to create the patch and write those out. Think of your runtime
app as an interpreter for the code you are storing.
