Ive set up my poly patch with 2 ins (in 1 and in 2) and 1 out (out 1). I see there are 2 inlets and 1 outlet when I load the poly, but the outlet is outputting a signal.

Is it possible to send messages in and out of poly without using signals?

Yep, sorry, my question wasnt very good. Ive got the "in 1" in my patch, but I dont understand how to get the inlets/outlets in the actual poly object? I cant see anywhere inside the inspector to choose how many inlets and when I include a patcher in the poly, the inlets/outlets are not shown as data, only signal.

if you have a [in 1] AND a [in~ 1], it's totally possible, and you will be able to send both control and audio through first intlet ; audio will be routed to the in~ and control to the in. You don't chose anything from the inspector, your number of outlets/inlets is determined by the highest index of in(~) and out(~). If you have a [out 1] AND a [out~ 1], it's not good, because signal will be sent by the same outlet as control, and control things will be overridden by a ever-incoming "signal" message. You could try to connect a [routepass signal], i'm pretty sure signal would then come out of the first outlet of routepass and data out his second outlet ("everything else") but this is a very, very bad practice ;)

well i was wrong, any control outlet will be added after all signal outlet. or maybe not after, but definitely separately.
