January 25, 2013 | 4:29 pm

Dear all,

I would like to know how I can start my Live.grid when Ableton live start?

I want that when I start ableton (play) the live.grid starts as well and then send midi note.. bla bla.
I tried many things .. live.observer, transport… I am lost :-(
I tried to find some answers on this forum and the tutorials but I could not find an answer :-(

Can you help?
Thanks!

Maybe instead, try live.step with a phasor~ (with the attributes,"@frequency 1 0 0 bars.beats.units @lock 1"). It seems like live.grid is meant to work with chucker~, where live.step is a more general purpose sequencer.

I just made a try and I start understanding how I should change my patch according to your example.
So … I inserted (and adapted) your patch into mine, and it works !!

even better, thanks to your example, I notice the "counter" module, and I look at the help and I can now change my live.grid START and END steps much easier than before.

Thanks!

just for your info;
now, the "issue" is that I have 4 Live grid, and each live grid has is own tempo :-)
If I use your method, I need to link ONE metro module (metro 4n) to all the different live grid and thus each of theme has the same tempo… so they loose independency…
I think it’s not a big issue; I am thinking of making a sub patch that contains your "code"/patch" andwill send the right "metro xn" where x is 1/4 1/8… to the right live grid, great!

again big thank, I keep you inform on my progress. (may be I may need help on subpatches, sending and receiving data from sub patches)..
bye :-)
