how to write down a text on what it's being listened to

November 11, 2008 | 7:51 pm

Hi there,
I am working on a project where I need the computer to write down in
a text file, what it is listening to and I wonder if this could be
done with MaxMSP

Thank you so much for your help.

Are you talking about speech recognition? AFAIK there’s no dedicated object for this (it’s incredibly difficult as I understand), but if you’re on Mac you can utilize aka.speech, which essentially provides an interface to the built-in speech recognition on the Mac. Or you can use another program like Dragon Naturally Speaking (about ~$100) and have it running in the background. Then use a text area or text file within Max to print out the words. These files can be saved easily, just check out their help patches.

We need some more details to go on before we can help more…
