Thanks man, really appreciated, i was praying someone would answer...haha, so simple, i could've sworn i bloody tried that at one point. The counter doesn't seem to add on every time I drop another sample in the buffer now however, and therefore the random stays on 1 but ill sort it.

The counter works OK for me, but it's a bit overengineered. Coming out of the polybuffer~ you could just use [route count] and send the left outlet of that to your [random]

How will the random object swap the sample being played through 2dwave~?
