Image processing in Max is usually handled with Jitter. Audio is handled by MSP. And other stuff like MIDI, numbers, etc. are handled by Max (which can also refer to the whole suite). Check out some of the Max tutorials in the help menu and then take a look and some of the jitter tutorials. There are different ways to approach your question but I think all of the solutions will be daunting before you get your bearings in Max. Eventually you'll want to check out jit.op, jit.planeop, jit.histogram, amongst others. Enjoy.

i haven't used Max before, ia m using other 

 that has some features but i was recommended to try Max, thanks and now i need some tutorials for this process. any suggestion?

Max is very elastic tool, so there is a lot of possible techniques, you can use. Here is one of the simplest:

hi, i know this is quote old thread, but is there a way to load images into jitter using the 64bit version? it works in 32bit max/msp but not within the 64bit version.

with the 7.2 release, PNG and JPEG images loading should work in 64 bit via the jit.matrix object. provide a patch and system details if this isn't working for you.

you should also check out the VIDDLL package, installable via the Package Manager, for windows 64 bit video capabilities.
