installing ddg.mono in max 4.6.3

March 5, 2008 | 2:58 pm

Hi there.

I’m building a synthesiser in max/msp 4.6.3, but I’m having trouble constructing working midi note off signals. I (like many others) have been looking at the Darwin Grosse synth building tutorials and I downloaded the ddg.mono object, but I cannot get it installed. I’ve tried many times and various different ways as explained in the forums, but I’m still having no luck.

Alternitavely, if anyone knows another way to create mono synth midi signals then please let me know.

Please help if you can! It’s driving me nuts!

Thanks
Mike

Well, depending on what you’re trying to do, I have an abstraction
that may help.

cbm.mono is sort of like ddg.mono, but cbm.mono is designed to send a
monophonic stream of MIDI data. It can be found on my examples page:

What do you mean by "installed"?

Did you download the object and put it somewhere in your search path?

Are you able to make an instance of it in a max patch?

I tried putting it in two folders in the cycling 74 folder, "externals" and "startup" but when I tried to create a ddg.mono in a patch window I just got a blank box.

What exactly is the search patch anyway? All the manual said to do do with external objects was to place them in Max’s search patch, but I can’t work out what it is.

Sorry if I’m being ignorant! Thanks for the reply.

Sounds like you did the right thing. The externals folder is fine.

Any errors in the max window?

Also – .mxe is windows, .mxo is Mac.

greetings,

i have designed an application i currently use in a live setting
simulataneously with another application – which i prefer to
run in fullscreen mode. at present, i send an applesript message
via midi to return my max app to focus. and, sometimes it takes
its time.

is there a way to have my max app gui window remain in focus
regardless of any other open applications which are open – particularly
if one of these other apps is in fullscreen?

thanks,

_z

Hi.

I tried again, moving the object into the externals folder and the help file into help, and it’s working! I must have been doing something wrong last time I tried.

Thanks a lot for the help!

Mike
