Navigate to Program FilesCommon FilesCycling ’74

You should see a folder called “externals”, this is where you need to put the mxe files.

Usually you also get an help file which goes in Program FilesCycling ’74MaxMSP 4.x.xmax-help

search for searchpath.

Its of course covered in the Tutorials and Topics.

I’ll add a request for the Max Documentation:

I would like to see the Topics part of MaxTutorialsAndTopics.pdf in the
MaxReferenceManual.pdf I think some of the questions only arise because
one would expect this information to show up in the reference manual and
nowhere else, and it would make more sense as well.

Where I think it should be is on the c74 share page.

I end up there when I need to install a custom object. So I click on “What is c74/share”. Hoping to get: How to install custom objects.

But I get:

“These pages are a place where users of Cycling ’74 software can share their patches, objects, presets, graphics, and other development with the rest of the user community.

Originally this section of our site was called ./share and then c74/share(Who cares what it was called. Give me some real information.). We hope you will join us and participate in the fun!”

I’d like to participate but I’m just not that good with the program. Some of these people are AMAZING. I don’t know how they make some of these programs/objects.

I think Cycling thinks of the builder first and then the user. Of course…..when it comes to MSP/Max they are kind of one in the same……..so maybe it’s a good thing.
