Intermittent MIDI death….

December 17, 2008 | 12:05 pm

Hello legends….

Im sending Midi from Max 5.0.5 to Live 6.0.10

Everything’s working so beautifully and then for some reason not apparent to me, it just stops, usually after 15 minutes or so.

The patch in max still looks like its working, but no midi is making it into live.

The only way I’ve found of making it come back is to re-boot max, and re load the patch.

The data is coming from the reactivision thing, from another computer via udp. Neither computer is sweating particulatly hard.

Any suggestions?

Thankyou ,
Bob

How? Which platform? What hardware? I can think of a number of
possible causes but without knowing something about your setup there’s
no helpful comments I can give.

Hmm. Have you tried using CoreMIDI’s inter-app bus? (I actually never
use the input/output port stuff, having been brought up on OMS.)

Also: if this is something which fails after a few minutes, I’m
wondering whether some power-saving feature is kicking in?

Nick,

That’s got it, Im using the IAC buss now. I would never have thought of that!
It’s been running for a few hours so far without problems.

I am so grateful – thankyou

Bob.
