Internal mic does not work in Max/general newb inquiries

April 26, 2012 | 10:10 pm

Hi, I’m very new to Max/MSP/Jitter, save for a few tutorials here and there. I’m trying to do some pretty basic audio reactive visuals, but my internal mic isn’t picking up *anything*. At first I thought it was a problem w/ my computer, but it seems like all of my other applications work fine. I’ve checked my patch over and over again. Any leads?

Another question- I’m trying to do an installation that involves visuals being created by contact mics, and at the same time, have that same audio generate back as feedback. Wheres a good place to start for the audio feedback?

Hi,

if you could post your patch I’ll take a look at it. Also try the simple patch posted below to see if there’s any audio coming in, make sure you turn on the audio by clicking on the microphone looking thing. With regard to your second question have a look at the tapin~ and tapout~ objects.

Thank you! I’ll take a look at those objects.

I tried out the test patch and it seems like sound is being picked up fine. Hm.
