Internet and Max/msp question

Hi Everyone,

I’m helping a friend out with a max/msp project.

And right now, I have an online survey, that users fill out.
This information is stored via javascript and soon to be put
into a database using PHP and such.

What I’m trying to figure out is how can I take the results of the survey, which are all numbers, and stream them into max, so then max can use the results.

Does that make sense?

Basically I want to gather information via the internet and send that into max.

If you have any thoughts or insight as to how one would go about this, please let me know.

Thanks,

Pat Shaw

Hello.

I’ve been working on similar things recently.

Basically my system works like this:
PHP webpage -> mysql -> php script (rss) -> java max rss reader object -> number box

I’ve found this works very well and is reliable and firewalls aren’t a problem.

A simpler method would be to create a PHP web page that displays the results very simply (in a list, no formatting, no HTML tags), and then use [jit.uldl] to download this page into max, and then parse data using [unpack] or [regexp]. This is called web scraping.

Hey Hubert,

Did you installed the jit.uldl version Jeremy posted a few weeks ago
which fix the leopard compatibility issue? He also mentioned that it
was recommended for everyone (not only the leopard users):

Uploading works for me (Mac book pro, os 10.5.2, Max/MSP 4.6.3 Jitter
1.6.4-x2, jit.uldl 11/29/2007).
