Is it ok to save maxforlive amxd. files outside of project folders?

Hi,

I prefer to have the maxforlive amxd. devices outside project-folders, for visibility & fast and easy access.
As I understand, this prevents me for saving Live presets, but I prefer to have internal pattr presets anyway.
So, If I have a sampler patch containg audiofiles, is it ok to just get a "missing file" in the manage files area in Live, and just drag in a file with the same name?

I have not got this to work with clips containing devices though, which is a great Live workflow technique, I dont get "missing max patch", the clip just launches with an empty max device, same with racks, I really hope to get this working!

This is how I got used to work with native Live devices before mfl, and I would prefer to work this way with mfl!

Cheers

Is this a valid question?

I can only guess - if you don´t mind the missing files dialogue and the potential problems ( e.g. deleting your amxd files which might be used in a set etc. )
Of course you are free to....

Best,
Christian

I have all of my .amxd devices in a folder outside of my Live library. Works fine, including use of Live presets.

@t3mpuser, have you succesfully managed the .amxd files to be saved as live clips, or manually search a new audiofile location?

When I tried to save an instrument as clip, it just became a default maxforlive instrument, without option for manually "replace" max file on device manager
