Java search path.

March 30, 2007 | 10:51 am

I had a flawless move from Max 4.5 to 4.6. Everything worked as before,
but I didn’t do new stuff in Java till now.
In theory the essential difference between 4.5 and 4.6 is, that 4.5
stores its files globally, and 4.6 puts it int its local cycling’74
folder. If its missing in the local folder it should not find it. But
the classes I made in 4.5 are still found, but I didn’t move them. Is
the search path for java classes different than the one for Max files? I
am just curious, because now I am not sure if edit something for 4.6,
that I modify code which is in the 4.5 folders (I don’t want that, to
keep versions consitent….)

Or is it save to simply duplicate my old classes into the 4.6 folder?

Just want to avoid some traps…

Thanks

Stefan

I believe it will find the classes in the local c74 folder first.
You should probably move to the newer paradigm exclusively
and see if it all works as expected.
