jit.gl.asyncread crashes MAX5 on windows XP

hi, all
didn’t find anything yet in the archives about this strange thing about jit.gl.asyncread. whenever i try to use it, MAX crashes immediately. i just tried the help patch but any other environment brought the same result. has anyone experienced this as well ?

My system:
Windows XP
Max 5.1.4
QT 7.6
OpenGL compatible graphic card (i.e. all shaders work)

Time for a clean install of the latest, 5.1.5:

1. Go to the Add or Remove Programs applet in the Control Panel.
2. Remove all instances of Max5.
3. Make sure the Add or Remove Programs applet no longer lists any of
MaxMSP or Jitter in the list of installer programs.
4. If anything is left in the following folders delete:
– c:Program FilesCycling ’74Max5
– c:Program FilesCommon FilesCycling ’74

Also, trash the Max 5 Preference folder. Preferences are stored here:

c:Documents and SettingsYour usernameApplication DataCycling’74

Please note that “Application Data” is an invisible folder and may need to be made viewable.

Then reinstall the latest Windows Max5:

If you are still having some problems, drop a note to support with your system specs including your exact graphics card and version of the driver.

thanks for the quick reply, but still the same with Max 5.1.5.
i will try your cycling74 support suggestion. if there’s any explanation i will drop you a line in this forum.
