jit.gl.videoplane sorting

June 10, 2008 | 10:39 pm

Ok i’ve read a few threads but haven’t quite got to the bottom of an issue I’m having.

Simple patch, three jit.gl.videoplane objects are drawing to a pwindow. I have all the blending and everything working fine.. everything is cool.

I save the patch and reload and the videplanes are drawing in a different order. If I change the images around I can get back to where I want to be again.

But how can I predictably sort three videoplanes?

jit.gl.videoplane @layer 1
jit.gl.videoplane @layer 2
jit.gl.videoplane @layer 3

The order is undefined in automatic mode. You can make sure of the
redrawing order by turning of automatic attribute, or by using the
layer attribute which specify the order.

Hi Wes,

Sorry I meant to say I tried that.. it makes all my videoplanes dissappear.. or render in black..

ahhh

I was doing

jit.gl.videoplane @layer 1 foo
jit.gl.videoplane @layer 2 foo
jit.gl.videoplane @layer 3 foo

not

jit.gl.videoplane foo @layer 1
jit.gl.videoplane foo @layer 2
jit.gl.videoplane foo @layer 3

thanks!

what about adding jit.gl.videoplane @depth_enable 0? what is your blend mode?

also add @depth_enable 0 and @blend_enable 1
layer overrides the automatic depth but depth_enable doesn’t know about
that.

post a patch

yeah I’m using @depth_enable 0 and @blend_enable 1

as i mentioned above it was purely the order of arguments that was the problem. typical example of starting a thread and going doh! Still at least we only make these mistakes once :)
