jit.qt.broadcast with MacBook (intel)

September 20, 2006 | 4:54 pm

Hi I just borrowed a brand new macbook (Os 10.4.7 with Qt 7.1.2) for an installation and I installed Max,Msp(4.6) and Jitter(1.6). It’s a very simple patch to broadcast realtime video using jit.qt.grab and jit.qt.broadcast. But I can’t get it to broadcast. the .sdp file keeps saying "connecting" and "ready" but not buffering or streaming anything. I tried to change qt player’s connection preferences but didn’t really help. I tried the exactly same patch with G4 PowerBook and PPC G5 and it works fine with both. I wonder if it’s something to do with the intel or some specific setting that I’m missing out…

Thanks for the report. There was a byte-ordering problem in the
creation of multicast addresses on Intel macs. This will be fixed for
the next release.

hi jeremy,
by the next release did you meant he sep 22nd 1.6.2/4.6.2 release?
i still can’t get it working here and i wonder if i’m the only one failing with intelmac/jit.qt.broadcast/darwin streaming server.

Yes. The fix should have been in that release.

The fix, however, was for direct-from-Jitter multicasting, and has
nothing to do with Darwin Streaming Server.

Hi Ali,

I’ve had this working before on PPC Macs (I don’t have access to an Intel Mac sadly). From what I remember you set Darwin Streaming Server up as a relay, run jit.qt.broadcast as unicast (@unicast 1) and set @vip to the address of the streaming server. You’ll also need to generate an sdp file and save that to the streaming server’s Movies directory,

Hope that helps in some way,

Andrew
