jit.qt.effect – hsl_balance bug?

December 21, 2006 | 9:30 am

Hi,

When I choose hsl_balance in jit.qt.effect, the processing speed
(fps) becomes extremely low and going lower and lower gradually. The
other effects seem to be normal.

I don’t know which (jit.qt.effect or QuickTime) is wrong but I’m glad
if someone point me a solution.

I tested it with jit.qt.effect.help and MacBook Pro(2.33GHz), Mac OS
X 10.4.6, QuickTime Pro 7.1.3, MaxMSP 4.6.2 and Jitter 1.6.2.

Although the hsl_balance QT Effect is extremely processor-hungry, I
can’t confirm that there’s anything unusual happening here. After the
initial drop in frame rate, it stabilizes for me. OSX10.4.8, QT
7.1.3, MaxMSP 4.6.2 w/ Jitter 1.6.x.

Thank you for replying. I understand it.
I felt curious because it’s too slow.
Maybe I can use jit.brcosa or jit.gl.imageunit instead of it.

I would look at jit.hue + jit.brcosa, if you’re in pixelworld. If
you’re in textureworld, jit.gl.imageunit supports the "Hue Adjust"
shader, and then you could use "Color Controls" for the brcosa stuff.
