jit.qt.grab doesn't work anymore

hi,

i have this message when i try to open isight with jit.qt.grab :

jit.qt.grab: could not create video channel -9405
jit.qt.grab: error opening device for grab.

and the camera doesn’t start.

what’s happen ?

and i have :
- “DV Video” and “IIDC Firewire Video” in the vdevlist
- nothing in the inputlist

i’m on mbp2,5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo / NVidia GeForce 8600M GT / max5.0.7

Hello,
Try searching for -9405 in this forum and you are certain to find the answer. Some other process has grabbed access to your video stream (other apps, other patches, etc.), so you’ll need to close down whatever is using your camera input.

thx andrew but nothing is using the camera. there’s only max launched.

if i try to use photo booth or other application, the camera (isight) works well.

also max reconize firewire dv camera when plugged in the computer.

it doesn’t reconize just the isight…

???

It happens for me when I directly close and re-open a patch without tell “close” -> [jit.qt.grab].

So the only thing I found is to disconnect the cam & reconnect, and re-launching the patch.

my problem is isight doesn’t work anymore only with cycling products (max4, max5 and hypno) but works well with quicktime, finalcut, photobooth.

i had to reinstall quicktime because another problem with jitter.
maybe i erased something by mistake.

i just reinstalled max4 and max5, but nothing changes.

in fact “usb class video” doesn’t appear anymore in the device menu.
i tried on a clean install of os10.5.7 + max5.0.7 and it works.

what’s happened ?
some advice ?

really sorry for the noise. it seems a quicktime component was missing comparing the 2 systems…

I also have the same problem as fp did. It says:
could not create video channel -9405
error opening device for grab

camera works perfectly in quicktime and photobooth. I updated my perian recently, could that be a problem?

any ideas?

and yes, it works if I close grab and restart the patch. Still I don’t like it…
