jit.qt.movie not playing on Windows 8

July 10, 2013 | 5:21 pm

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone has been successful at getting jit.qt.movie to work on Windows 8. I’ve installed Max 6, Quicktime, and even iTunes, and while Max runs fine so far, the jit.qt.movie object will not respond to a "start" message. It seems to "read" fine.

Thanks for the help.

Ok, so some more details. It does work on the 32bit version, but not on the 64bit version of Max. However, the 32bit version crashes whenever you try to add a jit.window…

Huh, so I can’t tell, is everyone having this issue or is no one having this issues?

I am really curious if anyone is successfully using jitter on windows 8.

Hey,

I am having the same problem. I am on windows 8, just installed quicktime, and i try to add any jit.qt. object in max 6 and it says in the target window : jit.qt.recort NOT SUPPORTED ON x64

I know someone who contacted cycling about a year ago in regards to these quicktime on windows issues, and they told me that Cycling doesn’t seem to plan on doing anything about it. Which is most likely why this thread has not been addressed.

Unless we are doing something wrong installing quicktime or whatever, but no one seems to give us answers on how to get it working.

I have to say its quite frustrating to be under the impression that Max is a cross platform product. It is not, and if I write a patch that works on Windows XP and then buy a windows 8 machine under the impression that max will work on that platform yet all of the jit.qt.objects do not work, well then that is just shitty.

Scrap quicktime or figure out how to implement cross platform correctly, or make a disclaimer in your product that says jit.qt.objects won’t work on windows 8.

Ok, so I just saw in the release versions that the limitations are cited.

I guess the next question is…

Is there any future plan for getting those types of objects working for PC?
