jit.vcr funkiness

August 21, 2006 | 12:56 pm

Hi.

I’ve been trying to build a patch using jit.vcr. It seems a little buggy, but I may not know what I’m doing. It won’t accept a realtime 0 message (it is set to 1 by default). Also, sometimes it records the audio tracks, and sometimes not, and I have been unable to demystify when and why it does. (It usually does not). Have others been using jit.vcr yet?

Thanks,
Tim

jit.vcr is _always_ in realtime mode (there’s no easy way to disable
display of that attribute, although changing it has been disabled).
As to why it is sometimes not recording, I’d need more information –
to the best of my knowledge, it works properly – that is, this is the
first report I’ve received that indicates there could be problems. If
you can isolate the situations in which you experience issues, I’d be
happy to investigate.

After working on the patch some more, I have discovered that the audio is now recording reliably. The problem must have been with the way I had the switching set up for the patch to use either jit.qt.record or jit.vcr, depending on whether or not audio was required. It must have been that jit.qt.record was doing the recording when I thought jit.vcr was. At some point I rebuilt that part of the patch and must have done it right the second time around!
Thanks,
Tim

I have an issue with jit.vcr related to this discussion. In the following patch, I’ve made a comparable situation between sfrecord – which does the job well – and jit.vcr, – which fails:
