Jitter 1.6.3b1 vs Jitter 1.6.3rc1

May 30, 2007 | 10:03 am

Hello List,
after upgrading to Max 4.6.3 latest release and Jitter 1.6.3 rc1 I find
one of my old patches broken.

What I basically do is that I load two images with alphachannels and
blend them together with one background (without alpha) using one
jit.gl.videoplane object (@automatic 0, @depth_enable 0, @blend_enable 1).

In Jitter 1.6.3rc1 the two image 1 and image 2 (that are blended with
the background) are the same. I see that the named matrix image2 is now
the same as the named matrix image1. going back to Jitter 1.6.3b2 brings
back the previous behaviour.

-This happens on a MacPro, MAc OS X 10.4.9 and a MacBook Pro with OS X
10.4.9

If there is a decision I want the old style back!

John.

Here is a Testpatch that shows this behavior reproducible.

if you put a [t draw l] between the matrices and the videoplane does
that fix your problem?

No, it doesn’t. Actually I just removed the jit.gl.videoplane and was
then able to load 3 different matrix contents. then I Apple -Z the
videoplane back in and 2 matrix contents were identical at once.

can you reproduce?

John.

Unfortunately, I can’t reproduce this behavior. If I can get a
reproducible demo, I’ll be happy to fix. If no one else can reproduce
your issue, I would double check that there is not an old version of
jit.gl.render if your search path being found. Try Get Info(cmd-I) on
an unlocked patcher, which should print out the contents of your
patcher and their locations on disk from which they are being read.

FWIW, if you’re not able to track down your issues, and need to get
something working now, I might suggest using 3 videoplanes in
automatic mode using @layer attribute for this type of task. You can
even use the "sendtexture read " to avoid external matrices.

Let me know if you have any problems.

Thanks,
Joshua

I tested with jpegs and the problem does not appear. the jit.gl.render
seems to be fine. Your suggestions avoid the problem and work just fine.
If you like you may try to reproduce the malfunction with some of my
Pictures: http://www.thisserver.de/PICTS.zip

Thanks for looking into this

Actually now, that I use three videoplanes instead of one I still find
some discrepancies with alpha channels. when I manipulte the alpha
channel before passing it to the videoplane the image disappears in some
cases. one other time I saw an alpha channel that did sum up with all
previous alpha channels. as if there were a buffer that loads with
alphas until the image is blank. So far I was not able to strip this
appearance down to a simple patch. Maybe I can do so tonight. I just
wanted to let you know.

-as before Jitter 1.6.3b2 doesn’t show this behavior.

John.
