Jitter Lag – Reasons/Solutions?

February 18, 2010 | 9:25 pm

Hi, I am using a jitter system that is very basic with a large MSP patch that is not so basic. I find there’s some considerable lag in loading/unloading audio files, and in typing in numbers into number boxes (this is particularly annoying, as I like to my fast changes and it sucks to have to wait, literally, seconds to input a number). This lag does not exist in the MSP patch on its own. My CPU usage is between 30-40%. What could cause this extreme amount of lag? If I have a very long video (35 minutes) loaded into jit.qt.movie, will that cause more lag than just a short loop?

i had 4 videos running simultaneously, I added "start/stop" to the patch so I could determine which ones are running. Clears the lag up completely to only have 2 running at a given time.

If you’re on a mac, have you tried using Apple Intermediate Codec? It solved many problems for me.

Did you have a look on jitter Vade optimization?
