Jitter on Intel observation

April 15, 2006 | 4:44 pm

Running latest max/jitter under emulation on a macbook 2ghz.

While CPU operations seems to run dandy (at least as well as my
1.25ghz g4, probably better), as soon as I move into the world of GPU
and the jit.gl stuff, patches slow to a crawl. i also noticed this
while doing some simple stuff with jit.catch~ and jit.poke~

Anyone else notice this, or am I imagining things? Also, out of
curiosity, assume there’s a good, technical and in-depth reason for
the slowdown to happen here. Could I get teh bullet point version?

Thanks

Unsure of the exact reasons, but my simple tests with Rosetta were
typically pretty slow (won’t be spending much time researching any
issues here). Mach-O universal binary coming in the relatively near
future, providing near G5 desktop levels of performance. Thanks for
your patience in the meantime.
