jpatcher_deleteobj()

December 11, 2008 | 7:23 pm

Hi!

In the Max 5 SDK documentation, ‘Scripting the Patcher’ section, the
above function is mentioned for cleanly deleting an object from a
patcher. However, it isn’t declared in the headers, so it’s currently
unusable. object_free() *seems* to work just fine though.

Is this a documentation bug?

Have you tried adding it to a header and seeing if the linker finds it?

Yeah, I tried sticking a declaration in, but although the symbol seems
to be in the MaxMSP binary’s symbol table:

$ nm MaxMSP | grep jpatcher_deleteobj
0015f054 t _jpatcher_deleteobj

It’s not in the symbol table of the MaxAPI library. Strange.

Anyhow, Tim’s solution works fine.
