I have two multisliders named eight and six. I can get the effect I want by sending "script bringtofront eight" or "script bringtofront six" to [thispatcher] but when I try to run this script:

it doesn't seem to do anything. I've been looking through the help files, but I haven't been able to find anything regarding calling the scripting names of objects created outside of js. I set their names with the attributes box. I'm just starting with js after lots of work with php and SuperCollider, because one of the reasons I didn't use Max much was because I'm a text-based guy when it comes to logic. Thanks everyone.

You need the maxobj representation of the object rather than just the scripting name, you can get this with getnamed(). Your end code might look something like below where x is the scripting name of an object.

this.patcher.bringtofront(this.patcher.getnamed(x));

Great! Thanks for that. I already have this other patch all built up, but I'm going to edit it because there are some things I want to script. I'm having this weird problem where one thing works and the other lags badly. It's a drum machine that works with different subdivisions, like triplets and quintuplets. I just started today. Any idea why the first one lags and the second one syncs perfectly? To test it, make it play some piano note and see if it plays a chord or a grace note.

I want the multisliders instead of the toggles, though, because I like controlling the volume. Any ideas? Is it programmed this way or is it a matter of MIDI lag?

You can do all the maths with integers, so don't use floating point arguments in your maths objects. There isn't really a reason for the [trigger]-[pack]-[route] combo, so get rid of them. Finally your patch is outputting something on every tick, which means lots of notes sent one after the other, you can fix this by placing a [change] after the [+ 1].

Below are the objects you want between the [transport] and the "fetch" message, just change the division argument for each instance.

I actually replaced everything with js objects, partly for the practice and also because I felt inspired.

The issue was that I had the bangs going on the subsequent beat, so it was essentially triggering at the note-off point. So I switched [t f b] to [t b f] and it worked. Nice, huh?
