Kinect… OpenNI object (automatic mocap – joint rotations)

Hi Hi Hi,

This is a plea for some intrepid soul to conjure an OpenNI object to compliment MAX’s Kinect object.

OpenNI is a library, that among other things, automatically extracts mocap skeleton data from the kinect feed. This data could be fed out as (xyz) joint rotations.

This would make the Kinect integration into MAX vastly more powerful — providing about 50 simultaneous continuous controllers and the possibility for a wealth of new music and video control interfaces.

Programming such an object is beyond my scope but oh boy oh boy would I like to tangle with the results.

You may want to check out some of the OSC projects for OpenNI, which could be easily routed into Max. https://github.com/Sensebloom/OSCeleton for instance.
