I'm using splay~ for playback of big multichannel files up to 64channels. Thus, when using the 'preload' message it takes a bit time to read the chunk of audio (big buffersizes) into memory. The cues are not know in advance but created dynamically and I'd like to start playback immediately after preloading has finished.

I think 'deferlowing' the playback start message won't help much (help says 'preload' message is already deferred to low priority), and although I could think of using time delays etc. that's rather ugly and changes dramatically depending on system specs. PS can't use buffers as the files can get large and use too much memory.

I've looked through Forums etc but couldn't find a way to tell when preloading a cue is done. Sfplay~ returns nothing in response to the preload message, and while sflist~ returns the cue it seems this does not happen _after_ preloading. Am I right? Maybe a (free) external?

knowing when sfplay~ preloading has finished (i.e. sfplay~ is ready for playback)
