I’ve just created a bunch of abstractions and maxhelp files, but it would make things so much more user friendly if I could somehow link an abstraction to a help patch so if the user option clicks on it it brings up the help patch I designate and not just the general patcher help patch.

Can this be done? Or at least is there some sort of hackery I can use to make it easier to access help on these new objects?

Yep, just make your help file patcher and save it as your_abstraction_name.maxhelp (make sure the system extension of the file is actually .maxhelp) and then put it in the msp/max-help folder.

the general patcher help patch?

erm … try tying [mything] instead of [p mything].

welcome top abstractions ;)

as an extra little gift, now arguments-to-patcher will also work.

Very strange. I tried it on this machine and it worked… Wasn’t on the previous machine.

I had placed the .maxhelp in the Max-externals folder on the machine I was on before and it wouldn’t work. By “general” patcher help, I meant that on the machine I was using if I option clicked it would give me patcher.maxhelp, not the abstraction help patch.

Anyways, thanks for the input. Glad works as expected but now I’ve got to figure out what I did to break it on the other machine.
