live electronics

Dear all,

I want to make a live electronics for flute and max/MSP. It is the first time for me and I don’t know how to organize the patch. the idea of the piece is having prerecorded flute, live flute and and live processing of the before mentioned. Please help me out on this. What are the best processings into Max/MSP? Shall I use external processing tools or the one tha MSP has are OK??
Thanks in advance,

That’s a coincidence! I’m working on a flute/electronics piece as well. I
think the most important aspect is how you’re going to control your patch
and synchronise it with the performer. Also how you deal with interactivity
in general.

For instance you mentioned that you want to do live processing of
prerecorded flute material alongside the live flute performance. Why not do
the processing before and record it? In that case you won’t even need
max/msp during the performance (or maybe just for triggering soundfiles).
Why is it important to have real-time processing? The audience won’t know
the difference…. Of course, unless you’re using the live performer to
control the parameters of your processes (e.g. pitch detection, envelope
following and so on…).

Anyway just thought I’ll mention where I am at the moment with my work!!
