live recording and playback

hello,

i apologize for posting twice about the same topic but no one replied to my previous post and i think it’s because i did a pretty bad job explaining it so i’ll give it a another try…

i’d like to record live into a buffer~ without knowing what the length of the recording is. i have to do this multiple times so that buffer~ saves each sound recording under a different file name into a sounds bank. then upon pressing play buffer~ will play the sound files it recorded.

i am really stuck with this, i’ve tried countless combinations of
buffer with counter, waveform, sprintf and a combination of two buffers but i can not get the desired result.

if anyone has any advice or a similar patch that i can take a look at i’d be grateful.

thank you,
ohal

I think you should be looking at sfrecord~. Unless you need _instant_
access to what you are recording, better to record it to disk
initially, then chuck it into a buffer~ with the replace message.
