I have some complex serial communications I need to program and after reading the documentation using the js object seems to be the quickest and most efficient way of handling it. However, I cannot get past the simple step of instantiating a new serial object.

I have tried var a = this.patcher.newdefault("serial"); which doesn't seem to work or throw an error. I have also tried variations of     var a = this.patcher.newobject("serial", "j", 9600); which all return an error: doesn't understand "serial"

Does anybody know the correct syntax for instantiating a new serial object in JavaScript?
