I am running a MacBook at 2 GHz with 1 GB RAM. I used the latency test found in the utilities folder and found, even with the vector size set to 16 (which I assume is too low in many cases) and the sampling rate at 44100 Hz , the amount of latency I was getting was around 20 ms. When I adjusted it to a vector size of 256 with a sampling rate of 96000 Hz I got 12 ms of latency. Is there a way to improve this besides adjusting vector size and sampling rate? Would I get less latency with an external hardware device that used FireWire or USB 2.0? Is it possibile to get latency as low as 1.5 ms?
