M-Audio Firewire Solo/Firewire Audiophile with Max

I’m planning to buy a firewire solo or firewire audiophile unit to use with MSP.

Does anyone have comments on their reliability on max/msp environment?

Thanks.

Not specifically, but I have had general issues with my m-audio firewire audiophile on my dual 2.0 G5…

see this thread for my experince and a summary of research I have had on presonus firebox, edirol FA-66 and motu ultralite as comparible products…

I have identified issues that people have with most devices! its a tough decision…

i use a firewire audiophile with a powerbook. it seems pretty good to me, except for one thing, i cant send my computer to sleep without without the thing crashing (i’m not sure wether its drivers or os x, but the audio stops and i have to restart). its very annoying. m audio have been little help, promising a fix in the new driver version, and failing to deliver it. also failing to respond to my emails. it does sound good when it works though!

Thanks bin…

Sorry for changing the direction but…

I’ve decided to go for an M-Audio Fasttrack Pro. Which is a USB device, USB 1.1 actually.

This is the first time I’m going entirely mobile, Buying a laptop and external soundcard, and a bit worried about this “old standard USB 1.1″ issue.

Tha bandwidth USB 1.1 gives is enough for that sound card so I should not worry about it not being a USB 2.0 device. No? Any important differences other than bandwidth between USB1.1 and 2.0?

Fasttrack Pro seems to suit all my needs input and outputwise, but as I’m going to use MSP most of the time, I’m a bit worried about these issues.

Anyone to say “Never buy that piece of hardware, USB1.1 is an overkill and that equipment is crap”?

Tell it before I buy one! Thanks. :)
