m4l device using "key" - only active when device is active

hi,
I made a small patch using "key" to trigger presets of another live device (e.g. change feedback parameter of a delay from 69% to 96%) with keystrokes.
works fine, but it is only responding to the keystroke if the m4l device is active - meaning I have to click into the background of the m4l device. if I click somewhere else, it doesn´t respond to the keystrokes.

is there a setting to make it always active?

thanks for your help!

Alternatively, you could use the key mapping feature of Live.

I don't know if that's possible. It would probably be better to use ableton's built in key mapping feature to map key strokes to change presets.

yes, the ableton key mapping works but only for 2 values - the minimum and maximum range that you can set.
but my idea was to have 3 or more values mapped to keys - like key a = 0% key s = 25% key d = 67% and so on...

so use the keystrokes from live to control the patch you made that changes the live device.

argh.. of course.... it´s too late for my brain. thanks, this does the trick!
