Hi, I’m having problems trying to connect a Mac to PC via ethernet cable for the purposes of transferring "mxj net.maxhole" data in Max. No problems using the maxhole object over a wireless network, but it’s getting a Mac and PC to connect with ethernet that’s the problem.
I assume that there would be a different process for this to what you would have to do for basic file sharing, as Max would need to recognise a constant connection between the two systems. Any suggestions?
Have you checked the computers’ firewall settings? That might be the problem. I tried connecting a pc and a mac using mxj net.maxhole once, and it worked like a charm – once we had configured the firewalls.
it would be really great if computers had instant, plug-and-play networking, but alas…
have you tried simply using the wireless router, but not for wireless? have one computer be the "internet" plug-in and use one of the outs for your other one. I don’t know if this will work and maybe I’m totally off, but hey.
Managed to get it working just by plugging ethernet cables into a wireless router. Regardless of network settings or anything else, Maxhole happily sent and received data with very little latency.
